Zettawatts’ Supplier CFE Program ensures Microsoft's suppliers reach the SCoC 2030 carbon-free electricity requirement. As a participant in the program, you will join three personalized one-hour sessions with members of the Zettawatts team to progress toward the 2030 CFE requirement.
Who should attend the sessions?
Anyone at your company who is involved in the decision-making and budgeting process for carbon-free electricity procurement should attend. This might include team members from finance, legal, operations, or executive leadership.
What do the sessions cover?
Each session drives progress toward meeting Microsoft's 2030 CFE requirement and is tailored to your organization's unique current clean energy program.
Session 1: Explore Goals & Microsoft CFE Requirement
Focus on understanding your company's experience with CFE procurement, discussing any CFE goals you've set already, and making sure that your goals align with Microsoft's 2030 CFE requirement for suppliers. We'll also talk through CFE procurement options that meet Microsoft's standard, and discuss which would best fit your organization's timeline and energy consumption.
Session 2: Develop CFE Procurement Plan & Budget
During this session you'll work with the Zettawatts to build a customized CFE procurement plan and budget through 2030. This plan will be created using our purpose-built CFE planning software, and can be shared with your stakeholders and team members.
Session 3: Review Budget and Agreements
The goal of this session is to prepare you to begin procuring carbon-free energy according to the plan you've created. We'll use this time to make any necessary changes to your procurement plan, and to review contracts and terms for transacting on the Zettawatts AREC Market if applicable.
Is there anything to do outside of the sessions?
Yes, each session will require modest pre-work to ensure that time spent during the session is as productive as possible.
Before Session 1: Review Microsoft's 2030 CFE Requirement outlined in section 6.11 of their Supplier Code of Conduct, along with their accompanying CFE Guidance document. We'll use part of this session to answer any questions you have about the requirements.
Before Session 2: Make a free account on arecmarket.com and spend some time familiarizing yourself with Zettawatts' CFE planning and budgeting tool. We'll use this tool to build your customized procurement plan.
Before Session 3: Circulate your CFE plan, budget and draft contracts to internal stakeholders for input. If your CFE plan includes purchasing ARECs, review the AREC Market customer terms and contract with your legal team to prepare it for signature.
